ASLA Early Career Teacher Librarian Award 2025

This prestigious national award recognises and celebrates an Australian Teacher Librarian who has made exceptional contributions to their school community and potentially beyond, all within their first five years in the role. The award highlights an early career Teacher Librarian’s impressive achievement in professional knowledge, practice, and engagement, showcasing their positive influence on teaching and learning within their school.

The Recipient of the Award will receive:

  • 12-month personal professional membership to ASLA
  • A $1000 professional learning grant
  • A trophy and certificate

The recipient of this award permits ASLA to use their photo in communications and promotional materials related to the award and will be required to publish a report in ACCESS, detailing the professional learning experiences facilitated by this recognition.canned copies of qualifications

Nomination for the Award

  • The nominee may nominate themselves;

OR

  • Principals, professional colleagues and members of the school community are also encouraged to nominate their library staff members for this award.
  • The nominee must be a resident in Australia and be working in a school library.

The completed nomination form must be submitted with the following documentation:

  • Scanned copies of qualifications
  • Contact details for two referees, with ONE being the school principal
  • Any other additional supporting evidence

Applications close Friday, March 14, 2025

ASLA Library Advocate Award 2025

This national award is to recognise a dedicated school library professional who advocates for their school library and has made a positive contribution to their school community and beyond. This award is open to any staff member, library staff, teachers and principals. The nominee will need to be able to demonstrate their contribution to their school community, wider networks and engagement with professional learning.

The Recipient of the Award will receive:

  • 12-month personal professional membership to ASLA
  • $1000 professional learning grant
  • Trophy and certificate

The recipient of this Award grants ASLA permission to use their photo in communications and publicity related to the award and will be required to submit a report to ASLA detailing the professional learning experiences facilitated by this award.

ASLA Early Career Teacher Librarian Award 2024: Abby Abdallah


The ASLA Early Career Teacher Librarian Award recognises an Australian Teacher Librarian who, within their first five years in the role has made an outstanding contribution to their school community and potentially beyond. This year, we congratulate Abby Abdallah from New South Wales for the positive impact she is making in her school.

Abby, who is currently serving as a Teacher Librarian at Chullora Public School in Greenacre, NSW, has demonstrated excellence in professional knowledge, practice, and engagement. Her innovative programs and commitment to diversity have had a profound impact on teaching and learning in her school.

ASLA Library Advocate Award 2024: Danielle Harte

The ASLA Library Advocate Award is presented to a dedicated school library professional who advocates for their school library and has made a positive contribution to their school community, and potentially beyond. This year, we are proud to honour Danielle Harte from Queensland for her outstanding dedication and leadership in her school community.

Danielle, the school Library Assistant at Trinity Anglican School in Kewarra Beach, QLD, has transformed the school library into a vibrant hub of learning and literacy. Her vision, commitment, and innovative programs have made the library an integral part of the school community.
